How you can
make a difference

Why just manage networks when you can automate them at scale? We are looking for a DevOps Network Automation Engineer to redefine how our infrastructure evolves using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and smart automation frameworks. If you love replacing repetitive tasks with elegant code and continuous integration, this is your next big move.

About us

We’re AD/01, the tech studio that builds the future of food retail. Whether it’s in-store aisles, online baskets, or behind-the-scenes operations, we innovate the daily food experiences for farmers and families, grandmas and greengrocers, and pickers and packers alike.

We’re part of the Ahold Delhaize network, one of the world’s largest global food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. With 19 strong local brands in Europe, the United States, and Indonesia, we create a meaningful difference for our customers, our people, and the world around us. And we’re looking for the freshest minds excited to create the recipe for change.

Your new role and environment

As a DevOps Engineer within the BeCSE Network Engineering team, you will play a key role in modernizing and automating our network infrastructure across the region. You will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions, leveraging infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD practices to drive efficiency and reliability in both on-premises and cloud environments.

You will collaborate closely with engineering, cloud, and security teams, and represent BeCSE (Belgium, Greece, Romania, Serbia, and Czech Republic) in cross-functional groups such as the Architecture SIG and other engineering initiatives.

Our organization is undergoing a major infrastructure transformation aligned with a cloud-first and automation-driven strategy. You will contribute to the evolution of our network architecture to support agile, scalable, and secure services for the enterprise.

Key responsibilities of your role

  • Deliver and manage network infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): You’ll design, provision, and manage on-premises and cloud-based networking components using tools like Terraform and Ansible, ensuring scalable and secure deployment processes.
  • Automate network operations and deployments: You’ll build automation scripts and CI/CD pipelines to enable consistent, repeatable, and auditable network changes across environments.
  • Support the integration of network and security services: You’ll collaborate with security and platform teams to integrate advanced technologies such as firewalls, ZTNA, and network monitoring into enterprise infrastructure.
  • Contribute to network modernization and cloud adoption: You’ll support the migration from legacy infrastructure toward software-defined networking and cloud-native solutions, aligned with our cloud-first strategy.
  • Collaborate across teams in Agile environments: You’ll engage with product and platform teams to understand requirements and deliver network services as part of Agile delivery cycles.

Technologies used in the department:

    • Cloud Networking: Microsoft Azure (VNet, Application Gateway, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute)
    • Automation & IaC: Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps
    • Scripting: Python, PowerShell, Bash
    • Firewalls & Security: Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager), Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA)
    • Load Balancing & Traffic Management: F5 (LTM, GTM)
    • Software-Defined Networking: Cisco ACI

What’s in it for you?

We ask a lot. (We’re looking for the best, after all). But we offer a lot, too.

So, what do we have in store for you? We offer flexible hours and a hybrid working model, allowing you to work both from home and at the office in Belgrade (Belville). We provide private health insurance, at least 26 days of annual leave and our Benefit card that unlocks numerous discounts both in our stores and with our partners.

At AD01 we welcome everyone, just the way you are, and encourage individual growth with valuable opportunities and a worldwide across-brand network.

Requirements

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Networking, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in DevOps environment
  • Network and security platforms experience would be a plus (Fortinet, Zscaler, Cisco, F5)
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, or Bash)
  • Familiarity with cloud networking in Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development practices
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in Agile environments is a plus
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • A proactive mindset and ability to adapt in a fast-changing, multicultural environment.

It goes without saying that so-called ‘soft skills’ are just as important as their ‘hard’ cousins. We highly value:

  • Experience working within a matrix-style structure with international teams
  • Provide hands-on, expert level technical assistance to developers
  • Be flexible, reliable and have a true hands-on mentality
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Team player: involves others, shares knowledge and seeks opportunities for cross functional working and collaboration
  • Creative: identifies solutions and selects the best combination of practices by taking an innovative approach to problem solving
  • Building trust with colleagues, clients & vendors
  • Must be results oriented: demonstrates a “can-do” attitude – adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness
  • Adaptable to situations and different/multicultural environments
