At Ahold Delhaize we are committed to protecting the personal data of our job applicants. We have
created this Applicant Privacy Notice (“Notice”) to explain how we collect and use information that we
collect through our Career website (the “Career Site”) and offline in connection with your application
for a job or internship with Ahold Delhaize.
This privacy notice applies only to the processing of your personal data as a job applicant of Ahold
Delhaize GSO B.V., Ahold Delhaize European Business Services B.V. and Ahold Delhaize Coffee Company B.V.
The entity at which you are applying for a job opening is the data controller for the processing of your
personal data as described in this privacy notice.
Ahold Delhaize GSO B.V. and Ahold Delhaize European Business Services B.V. are located at
Provincialeweg 11, 1506 MA Zaandam. Ahold Delhaize Coffee Company is located at Hoofdtocht 3, 1500 HD
Zaandam.
On our Career Site, job openings may be posted for our Global Support Office in the US. Ahold Delhaize
USA Corporate Support, LLC is the data controller for the processing of your personal data if you apply
to one or more of those job openings. This privacy notice does not apply to said processing of your
personal data by Ahold Delhaize USA Corporate Support, LLC.
This privacy notice is last updated on 28 May 2025. It may change from time to time if new developments
give reason to do so. You can always find the most current version of this notice at https://careers.aholddelhaize.com/privacy-statement.
We recommend that you consult this privacy notice on a regular basis, so that you are aware of these
changes. However, we will inform you of important changes in any case. The notice always indicates the
date of the last update.
Please note that the Career Site is not intended for minors under the age of 16.
2. Why do we collect your personal data?
We collect and process personal data about you for personnel recruitment, management and planning
purposes, as permitted by applicable law:
- To process your application, assess your capabilities, skills, qualifications and
suitability against our career opportunities;
- To communicate with you about the recruitment process and/or your application;
- Perform reference checks, verifying your information or perform pre-employment background checks,
as permitted by law. This is to verify the accuracy of the information you have provided, in order for
Ahold Delhaize to only employ people with proven records and sufficient level of integrity and
trustworthiness;
- For analytical purposes, including making improvements to our recruitment process including
improving diversity, equity and inclusion in recruitment practices (e.g. by conducting opinion surveys
or asking for your feedback on our recruitment process);
- To comply with or monitor compliance with any applicable law or regulation. Note that compliance
with law can include laws outside your country of residence;
- For the purpose of monitoring equal opportunity within our recruitment process. Ahold Delhaize is

- To add you to our candidate database for future consideration and inform you of other potential

Legal bases
- In view of purpose i. and ii., we rely on the legal basis that the processing of your personal data is necessary in the context of the intention to enter into an agreement with you. If you do not provide the requested information, we cannot properly assess your application or enter into an employment agreement with you.
- In view of purposes iii. - iv, we rely on our legitimate business interest to assess you during and improve our recruitment process. When we rely on our legitimate business interest for processing your personal data, we will always balance this business interest against your rights and interests.
- In view of purpose v. we rely on compliance with legal obligations.
- In view of purpose vi, we will obtain your prior consent before processing your data for this purpose.
Where the collection or processing is based on your consent, you are free to refuse or withdraw consent
at any time, without any consequence. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of the
processing based on such consent before its withdrawal.
3. What types of personal data do we process?
When you apply for a job opening at Ahold Delhaize, we collect information provided by you in connection with your application. This includes the following personal data:
- Contact information, such as your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address;
- Your CV or resume, cover letter, photo, date of birth, nationality, previous work experience,
education information, skills, interests, LinkedIn reference;
- Professional and other work-related licenses, permits, authorization status and certifications
held;
- Information processed during interviews, including any information you elect to provide us (e.g.,
employment preferences, willingness to relocate, current salary, desired salary, awards or
professional memberships);
- Assessment results;
- Information relating to references;
- Pre-employment screening information. Depending on the role, this may include verification of
employment history, education, driver license and/or a criminal background check;
- confirmation that a certificate of good conduct has been issued at the time of entering into
employment;
- If you already work or have previously worked at Ahold Delhaize, any previous employment history,
insofar as we have retained this information;
- Work permit details;
- Sensitive information which may include gender identity, race or ethnic origin and disability
information.
4. How do we collect your personal data?
We collect personal data in a variety of ways:
- Directly from you if you apply for a job opening via our careers website or through any other route (e.g. when you send us your CV by post or via email);
- From recruitment agencies or via third party websites and platforms, such as LinkedIn;
- Pre-employment screening providers. We may receive information relating to you from parties that conduct pre-employment screenings on our behalf;
- From your references; and
- Through cookies and other tracking technologies. We and our service providers use “cookies” and similar technologies on the Career Site. Please see our Cookie Policy for more information.
5. Do we share or disclose your personal data to other persons?
We limit access to your personal data to personnel on a need-to-know basis in view of the purposes
described in this privacy notice. This includes personnel in the recruiting, human resources and
information technology departments, and in the relevant department of the position for which you are
applying. Whenever we permit a third party to access your personal data, we will ensure the personal
data is used in a manner consistent with this privacy notice and applicable data protection laws. Your
personal data may be shared with our group companies and other third parties, including service
providers, for the following legitimate purposes:
- As a global organization, we may share certain associate personal data with other group companies
and our parent company, for the purpose of managing your application and our business, to analyze
workforce trends, identify areas for improvement and implement strategies that enhance recruitment
experience and operational efficiency.
- To enable third parties to provide services on behalf of us. Third party data recipients include
technology companies, pre-employment screening providers, consultancy companies, facility management.
- To comply with our legal obligations, regulations or contracts. Categories of recipients would be
supervisory authorities, tax authorities, counterparties to contracts, judicial and governmental
authorities.
- To comply with lawful requests from public authorities, such as regulatory bodies, law enforcement
authorities and national security organizations.
- As necessary to establish, exercise or defend against potential or actual litigation.
- In connection with the sale, assignment or other transfer of all or part of our business or one or
more of our group companies. Categories of recipients would be the (potential) purchaser and legal /
professional advisers.
- Otherwise in accordance with your consent.
6. How long is your personal data retained?
If your application is unsuccessful, your personal data will be deleted within 4 weeks, unless you have given us your consent to keep your information in our candidate database for future consideration and inform you of other potential career opportunities. In that case, your personal data will be kept for no more than one year.
If your application is successful and we hire you, your personal data is further processed in connection with your application and can be incorporated into our human resources system and used to manage the new-hire process; any such information can become part of your employee file and used for other employment- related purposes.
7. What security measures are in place to protect your personal data?
We are committed to protecting the security of your personal data and we have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data. These measures aim to ensure that:
- your personal data is protected against unauthorized access or modification;
- the confidentiality of your personal data is assured;
- the availability of your personal data will be maintained;
- vendors have received clear instructions on how to protect your personal data;
- personnel is trained to treat your personal data in a secure way; and
- actual or suspected data breaches are reported in accordance with applicable law.

You have certain rights relating to the processing of your personal data by us. You can request this
via the contact details below under ‘Questions or complaints’.
- You can request for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- You can inform us of any changes to your personal data, or if you want us to correct any of the
personal data we hold about you;
- In certain situations, you can ask us to delete, block or restrict the personal data we hold
about you, or object to particular ways in which we are using your personal data; and
- In certain situations, you can also ask us for your personal data in a format that is easy to
read and use. You can also ask us to send it directly to another company, if that's technically
possible
Where we are using your personal data on the basis of your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
