How you can make a difference
Do you want to grow your career in data science by working with real data, real business challenges, and a supportive team that will help you develop step by step?
Join us as a Junior Data Scientist and build machine learning solutions used across multiple European retail brands.
At Ahold Delhaize, you’ll work with rich and complex financial data in a dynamic international environment. As part of an experienced analytics team, you’ll learn how to design, test, and deploy models that directly impact business decisions, logistics planning, and operational efficiency.
This is a great opportunity to deepen your technical skills, learn from senior colleagues, and gradually take ownership of meaningful projects.
About Ahold Delhaize
Ahold Delhaize is one of the world’s largest food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e‑commerce. With 17 strong local retail brands across the US, Europe, and Indonesia, we create a meaningful difference in the lives of our customers and communities.
We offer a dynamic, international work environment where people can grow, be themselves, and make an impact.
Your new work environment
You will join the Reporting & Analytics team, working closely with colleagues in Serbia and the Netherlands.
While one part of the team focuses on reporting, the analytics stream functions as a true data science unit—developing machine learning–based solutions in the financial domain. You will work in a collaborative, supportive environment with a healthy mix of junior, medior, and senior team members.
As a Junior Data Scientist, your work will combine data analysis, machine learning, and teamwork with business stakeholders.
Your responsibilities include:
-Analyzing large financial datasets to create clear, actionable insights
-Developing, testing, and deploying machine learning models for real business use cases (classification, forecasting, automation, etc.)
-Translating your findings into understandable insights and visualizations for both business and technical audiences
-Automating analytical processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work
-Building and maintaining data models in line with data governance standards
-Supporting scalable and reliable reporting and analytics solutions used across multiple markets
-Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure solutions address real business needs
What you bring
-Basic knowledge of Python and SQL — enough to feel comfortable writing simple scripts/queries
-Curiosity and willingness to learn tools like Databricks or similar data/analytics platforms
-Interest in machine learning concepts and hands‑on experience through projects, courses, internships, or university work
-Degree in a technical or quantitative field
(Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or similar)
-Strong analytical thinking and motivation to solve problems using data
-Eagerness to learn from more experienced colleagues and work collaboratively in a team
-Strong command of English
Our selection process
