How you can make a difference
Working as a backend developer for AH technology means that you help us build state-of-the-art applications for our Finance department. We are currently in the midst of a transformation where all processes and systems are moving towards newer technologies. We are looking for a developer with an entrepreneurial mindset who can drive this change with us!Â
This is how you will reinvent food retail.
- Help rebuild our traditional tech landscape and create new applications in a modern innovative tech foundation (high code front-end) to scale our ever-growing core business.
- Build code, implement, and execute automated testing, ensure security, code quality, and contribute to best practices and deployment.
- Be a valued team member, that contributes and removes obstacles. Â
Your new job, team and office.
As a backend developer, you become part of the DevOps Finance Order-to-Cash team that is responsible for the maintenance and operations of multiple systems. The team has great ambitions to move from a more older tech stack (Oracle 12c Forms 😉) to a modern software product. You can be a driving force in implementing this change.Â
You will be working closely together with the other DevOps-engineers/Front end developers in the team, solution consultant, and the product owner. As a backend engineer, you will not only help the team to migrate from Oracle, but also to create new applications that will be the future cash and sales accounting systems of AH. You make an impactful contribution to, not only the employees of Albert Heijn, but also the customers who shop at Albert Heijn.Â
Our teams work in a hybrid way: both from home as in the office. Our team goes to the office in Zaandam once or twice a week. We are located near the train station and offer a NS-train card. Â
The finance tech teams work in close cooperation with both the Albert Heijn business finance department and external parties that perform administrative operations on behalf of Albert Heijn. The order-to-cash team focuses on applications around billing, sales accounting and cash accounting. The team consists of backend developers with a strong background in the legacy systems (Oracle PLSQL and Forms/Reports) and developers specialized in services, messaging and backend services (kotlin).Â
We think it’s important to be part of a highly belonging team; a team where you can be yourself and feel safe, accepted and appreciated. For this job we are preferably looking for someone who brings diversity to our team, in the widest possible sense. Someone who is a great addition to our team by bringing other ideas to the table. Don’t check all the boxes? Don’t worry, we probably don’t either 😉. Don’t hesitate to apply if you think you are up for the challenge, we’re happy to have a look at your resume! Â
What we offer.
At Albert Heijn we aim to grow, and this is only possible if you grow along with us. As we work together to build our brand and your career, you can count on (based on 40 hours per week):
- An annual salary up to 80K including holiday allowance and a flexible bonus;
- 45 days of paid leave to enjoy your well-deserved holidays: 25,5 regular vacation days and 19,5 ADV days. Enjoy!
- Flexible working hours;
- Access to a challenging training curriculum – AH Tech Academy;
- An excellent pension plan where we as an employer contribute 4,5 more than you as an employee;
- A travel allowance or a NS-business card for traveling to and from Zaandam by train;
- Attractive discounts on various insurance policies;
- 10% staff discount on groceries in all Albert Heijn stores, to a maximum of €300 per year;
- A free Mijn Albert Heijn Premium membership with many benefits;
- A company laptop and telephone. Â
  Â
The recipe for maximum impact
- 5+ working with REST based services/microservices using Kotlin/Java + Spring boot.  If you don’t have Kotlin experience but Java experience, you can learn while working
- You are a developer that takes care of code quality, own code testing, follow development principles, and help the team to not deviate from the guidelines
- Bonus if you also have worked with MongoDB or PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of REST, APIs, CI/CD and Cloud (Azure)
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Grafana and Prometheus is a plus
- Familiar with Scrum/Agile methodology
- An outstanding command of the English language.
- 24/7 responsible for the application development & Ops and willing to participate on the standby scheduleÂ
