Are you ready to bring Albert Heijn Technology to the next level as a Backend Engineer? Within AH Tech Retail Business Platform we are looking for an enthusiastic Backend Developer (Kotlin, MongoDB, Azure) for the sourcing domain. This domain is responsible for the applications for sourcing and contract managers which give them insights into the retail market, support in negotiations with our suppliers and manage our contracts.
This is how you will reinvent food retail.
- Help rebuild our traditional tech landscape and create new applications in a modern innovative tech foundation to scale our ever-growing core business.
- Build code, implement, and execute automated testing, ensure security, code quality, and contribute to best practices and deployment.
- Be a valued team member, that contributes and removes obstacles.
- Integrate and expand our contract management capacity.
You will be joining the Contracts DevOps team, building the services in a modern innovative technology landscape to support applications for our contract managers in business.
You are working closely together with the other DevOps-engineers/Front end developers in the team, the solution consultant and the product owner to co-create a new application that will be the future contract management of AH.
Our engineers are passionate about their craft, and they want to keep learning and improving. They are not afraid to ask for what you need to make that happen and they go the extra mile to support each other delivering results, joint brainstorming sessions and pair programming are a regular things in our team.
Our teams work in a hybrid way: both from home as well as in the office. We can usually be found at the office in Zaandam (right next to the train station) one or two days per week.

Together with your team you will work on inspiring projects to accelerate our transition into a hybrid Food & Tech company. The recipe for maximum impact
- 5+ working with REST based services/microservices using Kotlin/Java + Spring boot. If you don’t have Kotlin experience but Java experience, you can learn while working
- You are a developer that takes care of code quality, own code testing, follow development principles, and help the team to not deviate from the guidelines
- Bonus if you also have worked with MongoDB
- Knowledge of REST, APIs, CI/CD and Cloud (Azure)
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Grafana and Prometheus is a plus
- Familiar with Scrum/Agile methodology
- An outstanding command of the English language.
- 24/7 responsible for the application dev & ops and willing to participate on the standby schedule
