How you can
make a difference

.

Does DATA and TECHNOLOGY run through your veins? Then look no further - are you the new BI engineer with a keen interest in BI & Reporting to help Albert Heijn build the best-in-class data analytics platforms and bring our Food and Tech company to the next level?

This is how you will reinvent food retail.

  • Technical leadership (40%) – Provide technical leadership for the evolution / maturation of the current Microsoft Power BI self-service offering. We require a robust, future-proof solution that can enable data consumers at scale.
  • Platform transformation support (30%) – Provide hands-on guidance and support for the migration of existing OBIEE & Tableau data models, dashboards & reports to Power BI.
  • Business support (15%) – Talk to our customers, understand their self-service needs, help optimise their data models and/ or suggest improvements to their reports.
  • Technical mentorship (15%) – Provide technical mentorship to other members of the DDP Self Service Analytics team.

The Self Service Analytics (SSA) team, which forms part of a bigger BI & Reporting team, is primarily responsible for providing guidelines, a best practices framework, technical guidance and a reliable platform for our data consumers to be successful on their data self-service journey. Power BI, Databricks and Azure will be your primary play areas, but we also support Knime and Tableau (to be decommissioned over time) across the organization.

This is a hands-on technical position. The ideal candidate has prior experience in designing, developing and managing a data analytics platform with a strong focus on enablement at a large scale. Of course, none of this is useful unless you possess a high standard of excellence, attitude, solid written and verbal communication skills, and a strong customer focus!

Your new team and office.
Together with your team (Product Owner / BI Developers / DevOps Engineers) you will work on inspiring projects to accelerate our transition into a hybrid Food & Tech company. We want to leverage data and technology to future-proof food shopping and make access to healthy food more available for everyone. At Albert Heijn, you team up with inspiring peers in the data, digital and tech domains. A community of diverse individuals who share a common goal; to create digital solutions that make (online) shopping simpler and more inspiring.

Are you ready to reinvent the way millions of people buy and enjoy their food? We invest heavily in data, digital and tech. And that includes investing in your career! Our teams work in a hybrid way: both from home as well as in the office. We are located right next to the train station of Zaandam.

We think it’s important to be part of a high-belonging team; a team where you can be yourself and feel safe, accepted and appreciated. For this job we are looking for someone who brings their ideas to the table and to take full ownership of their work. Don’t check all the boxes? Don’t worry, we probably don’t either 😉. Don’t hesitate to apply if you think you are up for the challenge, we’re happy to have a look at your resume!

The recipe for maximum impact.
Must haves (7+ years with demonstrated skills)

  • Deep knowledge and experience building robust & sophisticated Power BI data models & dashboards
  • Experience setting up and managing Power BI within a large & complex environment
  • Critical thinking ability - e.g. the ability to ask questions and challenge opinions are very important
  • Ability to take full ownership of an area without too much guidance from others
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal in English, Dutch would be a nice-to-have)
  • Ability to mentor/guide less experienced members of the team

Nice to haves

  • Some experience working with Databricks
  • Some experience using API’s for governance (e.g. housekeeping) or automation (e.g. scheduling) tasks
  • Exposure to the Oracle platform, specifically OBIEE data models & reports
  • Exposure to the Tableau analytics platform
  • Exposure to Knime / Alteryx (or similar tools)
  • Experience with multidimensional or tabular cube technology
  • Good understanding of UX design principles
