How you can make a difference
As Financial Controller Albert Heijn BE, you make sure the actuals reporting (internal and external) of the brand and area you are working for is accurate, complete and in line with the AD Accounting Manual. You make sure the balance sheet is in full control by implementing balance sheet reviews, analytical reviews, reconciliations etc. You interpret and analyze financial data and translate it into periodic and adhoc reports/dashboards. Next to this you provide valuable insights and steering information to your finance business partners.

Your new team
You will join the Financial Control Team within European Business Services (EBS), the shared services organization supporting Ahold Delhaize’s European brands. Within EBS Finance & Accounting, teams consist of highly skilled professionals who take ownership and continuously work to improve finance processes and insights.
EBS Finance aims to design, deliver and support next generation solutions for key financial process of Purchase to Pay (P2P), Order to Cash (O2C), Record to report (R2R), Financial Control, ESG Reporting and Digital. 100% timely and flawless execution and delivery is our way to provide a smooth processing of high volume of financial transactions and a great “customer” experience. The end users - our Brands - are top of mind. Everything we do is fact based and performance based. We assess and continuously improve our services to you and your teams.
In this role you will be a part of a team of 5 controllers incl 1 manager which are responsible for the financial control activities of AH Online, AH Belgium and AH to go.
Together with a senior financial controller you will be responsible for AH Belgium
It is a challenging and broad role that requires strong financial expertise and the ability to manage a wide range of stakeholders and processes. You play a key role in critical financial processes for our own and franchise stores such as the Belgian payroll (outsourced) and the full annual accounts process. You know how to ask sharp, insightful questions and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Financial and Business Controllers, Tax and external audit.
Key focus areas of your role
Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:
Financial Closing & Reporting
- Responsible for the monthly financial closing of the Albert Heijn Belgium entities
- Ensure an accurate, complete, and timely P&L and Balance Sheet
- Make financial results quickly and clearly available to the Business Controllers
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the financial point of contact for Business Controllers of the units you close
- Investigate and resolve financial questions in collaboration with:
- Corporate Accounting
- External outsourcing partner Genpact (India)
Annual Accounts & Compliance
- Guide and coordinate the annual accounts process, liaising with both Dutch and Belgian accountants
- Maintain strong relationships with Tax, Legal, and Internal Audit/Risk departments to ensure compliance and transparency
Process Improvement & Knowledge Sharing
- Take a proactive role in improvement initiatives, optimizing financial processes together with Financial Consultants
- Participate in regular discussions with other Financial Controllers, both within and outside the team, to deepen process and business insight

The ingredients you bring
Everyone brings their unique flavor. We believe this role comes to life when you bring the following experience:
- A completed MSc degree in Finance, Business Administration or Economics;
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with dashboarding tools is a plus but not a requirement. It is important that you find this subject interesting and that you want to develop yourself further in it;
- Excellent Dutch and English communication skills (verbal and written)
Aside from these hard skills, we think you should also bring some much-valued soft skills to the table: strong communication skills and ability to work with various stakeholders, having a drive for change and innovation and having will to learn new things.
