As a Junior Risk & Control Specialist, you will develop rapidly within an international environment. You help identify business risks and contribute to building a strong control framework. You operate across different levels: from distribution centers to HR processes, and from operations to procurement - you know exactly what’s going on.

Your new work environment

As a Junior Risk & Control Specialist, you help ensure the organization remains “in control” by managing risks and continuously improving processes, with attention to innovation, automation, and sustainability. You won’t do this alone, but as part of the Risk & Control team.

It’s a challenging role, as together you ensure the business is fully supported in limiting risks and continuously improving control processes. You form the second line of defense within our governance framework, which is based on the three lines of defense model. Your focus is primarily on Dutch operations, but you will collaborate with Risk & Control teams in other European countries when needed.

Key responsibilities of your role

  • Limiting business risks and improving control processes.
  • Setting up and monitoring controls, identifying residual risks, and making the internal control framework more efficient.
  • Finding ways to make controls more efficient and effective, preferably through tools, automated processes, and data analysis.
  • Responding to new developments, such as the growing role of ESG KPIs in the field.
  • Support the manager and your colleagues in designing and improving the control framework, based on risk assessments and policy guidelines.
  • Advise and assist the business in shaping and implementing new controls.
  • Monitor key controls, discuss any issues with business stakeholders, and propose suitable solutions.
  • Build and maintain a network of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Propose and advise on improvements to controls.

Requirements

We believe you will excel in this role if you meet the following requirements:

Professional experience 

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree.
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
  • A strong interest in understanding business processes and performing internal controls.
  • Strong analytical skills that help you understand processes and assess whether they can be improved or made more efficient.
  • Good communication skills, such as influencing, persuading, probing, and presenting.
  • The ability to draw well-supported, objective conclusions and communicate them clearly.
  • A true team-player mindset, flexible and good at setting priorities.

  • Someone who can work autonomously.
  • Someone who can switch between different topics whenever the day requires it.
