How you can
make a difference

If you’re driven to understand how a company’s words and actions shape its reputation, this is your opportunity to make impact at scale. As Corporate Communications Manager at Ahold Delhaize Group, you will help shape our international narrative. Positioning us as a leader in tech and AI, guiding senior-level issue and crisis management, and strengthening trust with diverse stakeholders. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution at the heart of an international retail organization.

About Ahold Delhaize

We’re Ahold Delhaize, one of the world’s largest food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. Together with our 17 strong local retail brands in the United States, Europe and Indonesia, we make a meaningful difference in the lives of our brands’ customers, our people and the world around us. We offer a highly dynamic, international work environment in which our associates thrive.

Your new work environment

As Manager Corporate Communications, you will join our Group Communications team. Together, we shape how customers, associates, investors, and other stakeholders see Ahold Delhaize. We manage our reputation and bring the company’s mission and values to life through communications on topics such as sustainability, inclusion, and tech/AI. With responsibility for international communications across two continents, the impact of our work is far-reaching. We are a dynamic team with diverse backgrounds, united by the ambition to make a real difference.

You will have the freedom and responsibility to take ownership of your work, while broadening your horizons through close collaboration with colleagues from our great local brands in different countries. We support one another and actively invest in developing talent and skills for the future.
Key responsibilities of your role

You will work on a variety of assignments that cover the full scope of external communications, reputation management and leadership positioning, including:

  • Proactive communications / PR on tech/AI
You will take full ownership of external communications and leadership positioning in a key strategic area for our company: Tech and AI. To ensure Ahold Delhaize is positioned as a leader in this innovative field, you will liaise closely with senior stakeholders, lead the development of key content, and work with external partners such as journalists and conference organizers. In addition, as part of our proactive positioning, you will oversee the social media strategy.
  • Lead issue & crisis management
Together with Ahold Delhaize’s spokespersons, you will develop proactive approaches to manage a wide range of issues affecting our company and/or our local brands. You will also prepare for potential crises and take a leading role in managing them when they arise.
  • Monitor Reputation Tracking (via external agency)

What gets measured, gets managed. You will lead our reputation tracking in collaboration with an external research agency, covering both the Ahold Delhaize brand and the strong local brands within our family. This enables close collaboration with leadership teams at the local brands and the effective presentation of insights and outcomes.

What’s in it for you?

Aside from what we ask of you in this role, we also have a great deal to offer you: plenty of growth opportunities and various cross-brand career options; flexible working hours; a hybrid working model (we ask you to spend at least 50% of your working time at the office); and the chance to drive meaningful change on a global scale. You can look forward to a good work-life balance, and the chance to work in an inclusive environment that wholeheartedly encourages growth and welcomes you just the way you are.

Plus:

  • A gross annual salary between €96K to €108k including holiday pay based on full-time employment
  • Attractive bonuses
  • A first-rate pension plan
  • 20 vacation days and the option to buy an additional 12,5 days from your personal ‘flex budget
  • Travel expenses, a lease car or an NS travel card
  • A laptop and smartphone
  • The possibility to work from abroad for a maximum of 4 weeks per year

Requirements

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • 6–12 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, preferably in a complex or regulated environment
  • Experience working in an international and/or matrix organization is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, the ability to think strategically and advise at a senior level
  • Knowledge of Dutch and Belgian society and the political landscape is considered an asset
  • Fluent in English; fluency in Dutch is a plus but not required
  • In addition to these hard skills, we value a strong set of soft skills. You are a proactive go-getter with strong people skills and the ability to think creatively. A high level of independence, energy, decisiveness, experience in boardroom interactions, and enthusiasm will help you succeed in this role.

“This is a role for someone who enjoys making sense of a fast-changing world and thinking a few steps ahead. You’ll have the space to work independently, bring fresh perspectives, and shape our approach. I believe in trust over control, and in working closely together when it matters most.”
— Elvira Bos, Director Corporate Communications
