At the heart of the European Ahold Delhaize organization sits the European Finance team to drive support for the European team, that drives the alignment, consistency & clarity for our great local brands in areas of IT, shared service centers (Finance & HR), joint sourcing & the ever-changing ESG transition. The European finance team supports the brands on cross-functional projects in the past mentioned areas and drives the overall European portfolio to ensure that we deliver to Europe.

The EU&I BPP Finance Manager leads the financial close process, preliminary close, period review preparation, EU review preparations & forecast process from preliminary submission to presentation. To create a strong connection between the brands to ensure that we follow our overall planning process & timelines.  The role is a point of contact between the brands and guides the brand teams in the quarter close deliverables (for AD group & IR) and has a major focus on our investment process and drives the Investment proposal & review process (PIR).

The Manager BPP EU&I is responsible for monthly calls, building and presenting the monthly decks for the EU Management and Executive Committee to discuss performance, budgets, forecasts, and planning. This means the position is directly engaged with the top leadership of the company. This makes the role particularly exciting: seeing everything, building a strong understanding of success drivers, and being involved across the board.

In addition, there are various ad hoc projects, for example on cash flow, e-commerce, potential new investments, or due to findings in business performance that call for additional analyses. Overall, an inquisitive mindset and self-starting attitude are crucial.

Key responsibilities of your role 

Your role is highly diverse and strategic, and your key responsibilities include: 

  • Team management of analyst & Finance trainee
  • Owner of quarterly deliverables; from AD group & Investor Relations supported by Finance Analyst
  • Reporting owner ranging from Business Financial Review document to period decks and financial decks – owns final deck – update of slides supported by Finance analyst & Finance Trainee
  • Owns the investment proposal process for Europe ranging from monthly approval process to PIR, LAR, etc. Owns the improvements within the process
  • Owner of GMIP process including coordination with brands and feedback after every planning cycle based on memo Group
  • Drives new initiatives to enhance weekly insights, forecast deck & period deck. For instance, weekly insights into key retail KPI’s (traffic average basket, etc. summarized from brands) (Fin. Director supports where needed and initiates new ideas)
  • Ad hoc questions & relationship with AD group team members
  • Support team-to-team improvement initiatives led by the Finance Director

Requirements

We believe you will excel in this role if you meet the following requirements:

Professional experience 

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in finance
  • Experience working in a multinational company (Group or subsidiary) or Big 4
  • Expert level in Excel and strong PowerPoint skills
  • Experience leading timelines and milestones in complex business environments

Aside from these hard skills, we think you should also bring some much-valued soft skills to the table: an engaging and credible presence, able to quickly build rapport with senior leaders, with strong stakeholder management, analytical skills, ability to think outside of the box and eagerness to learn new things.
