Your new role
As Business Controller for European Business Services (EBS), you will play a pivotal role in supporting and shaping the financial strategy of Ahold Delhaize’s shared services across Europe. This includes Business Services Finance (BSF), HR Services, and Not-for-Retail (NFR) Sourcing, including our newly established services entity in Serbia. You’ll collaborate across brands, countries, and functions—including with AD’s global team— in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You’ll help guide decision-making and drive value through strategic financial insights, supporting some of Europe’s most critical strategic initiatives, such as the largest tech transformation in the European finance organization, as we implement components of a new global financial system.

What you’ll do
Your responsibilities span strategic finance, with a strong focus on business partnering, project support, and continuous improvement across all three shared services areas.
Â
Business Partnering & Strategic Support
- Contribute to the financial support of initiatives across BSF, HR Services, and NFR Sourcing, developing business cases to ensure long-term value creation.
- Collaborate with EBS leaders to safeguard and implement strategic plans.
- Translate diverse local business interests into unified, value-adding solutions for the European region.
G&A Controlling for EBS
- Lead G&A planning cycles, periodic closing, and reporting for the EBS organization.
- Partner with budget owners across EBS to ensure alignment, transparency, and financial clarity.
- Prepare and deliver impactful reporting and presentations to senior leadership.
- Gain wide exposure to key leaders across EBS and contribute to strategic financial direction.
Transformation & Continuous Improvement
- Support the strategic rollout of new critical tech enablement platforms and other strategic initiatives within EBS.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance clarity in financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial and business processes across Europe.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements: Â
- Combine a Master degree in Finance & Accounting, Business Administration or Economics with 2-5 years of relevant work experience, e.g., in Finance Consultancy roles, change projects in financial processes, FP&A, Business Control, M&A or Audit.
- Bring experience in (finance) process design, process optimalization and change management.
- Bring solid project management qualities to the table – a must because you will work in multifunctional teams. You bring organization sensitivity, humor and confidence.
- A strategic mindset with strong analytical skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Experience in finance business partnering, ideally within a multinational or shared services environment.
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and work effectively across cultures.
- Have strong analytical skills.Â
- Are fluent/native in English, Dutch is considered a big plus.
