Are you an experienced legal professional with a passion for technology and innovation? Ahold Delhaize is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our European Legal Technology team. As Senior Legal Counsel Technology, you’ll be part of our European Legal Technology team, collaborating closely with business, technology and compliance stakeholders across our local brands. You’ll play a key role in helping Ahold Delhaize navigate this evolving landscape by supporting innovation, shaping policy and ensuring legal and ethical compliance in everything we do.
You’ll join a team of experienced legal professionals, working together to support transformation in one of the most exciting areas of retail.

You will be given the freedom and responsibility to take ownership of your work and broaden your horizons by working together with knowledgeable colleagues from different countries who have an abundance of expertise in many areas. Key responsibilities of your role
As Senior Legal Counsel Technology, you will:

•    Lead the legal implementation of major EU regulations such as the EU AI Act, NIS2, DSA and the European Accessibility Act, ensuring alignment across our functions and brands.
•    Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, providing practical, business-oriented legal advice on a wide range of technology matters.
•    Help coordinate and actively participate in EU Legal Practice Groups.
•    Develop and maintain internal legal tools, including contract templates, playbooks and guidance for legal, IT sourcing and business teams.
•    Negotiate and advise on complex technology contracts, such as cloud services, SaaS, software implementation and digital innovation projects.
•    Stay ahead of legal and regulatory developments in digital, data and technology law—and proactively identify potential risks and opportunities.

Requirements 
To succeed in this role, you’ll likely bring:

•    A Master of Law degree and 5–8 years of relevant legal experience, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house work in an international context.
•    Strong expertise in IT and technology law, including digital, data and regulatory topics.
•    A collaborative, solution-driven mindset, with the ability to work on complex, multidisciplinary matters.
•    Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch, both verbal and written.
•    A proactive, naturally curious and commercial approach.

Please note that this role can be performed from either the Netherlands or Belgium, which will also be your main base of work. However, some travel between the two countries may be required.

When both parties would like to continue the conversation you will be invited for an online assessement, also known as pre-employment tests. The purpose of the test is helping hiring manager determine whether a candidate has the skills, work style, knowlegde of personality to succeed in a the role.
