How you can
make a difference

.

As our Business Controller IT you focus on improvement of the financial IT organization and are the financial sparring partner for IT, more specific the IT Cybersecurity and Access Management Domain, within Ahold Delhaize. You play a key role in the improvement of the financial IT organization and manage finances, planning & control and advice and support management in realizing our objectives in terms of objectives, cost control and profitability. You bring experience in IT control and understand its effect on the organization.

About Ahold Delhaize
We’re Ahold Delhaize, one of the world’s largest food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. Together with our 17 strong local retail brands in the United States, Europe and Indonesia, we make a meaningful difference in the lives of our brands’ customers, our people and the world around us. We offer a highly dynamic, international work environment in which our associates thrive.

Your new work environment
As Business Controller, you will be joining our Global Finance team, supporting IT. You will be given the freedom and responsibility to take ownership of your work and broaden your horizons by working together with knowledgeable colleagues from different countries who have an abundance of expertise in many areas. We will continuously support you and help you build on your talents and skills for the future.

The role largely boils down to strategize financial IT back-end processes and understanding how IT costs originate and translate that to opportunities, insights and Business cases. What process is in place and is this offering the level of transparency of IT costs we want? Who needs to be involved to have all processes aligned? Where do we spend and why? You have to tap into your entire reservoir of skills, because IT Control is just as much in scope as passionately advocating your plans and vision to stakeholders, such as Corporate Accounting, CFO’s and CIO’s.

Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:

  • You contribute to the development of our IT strategy by developing the year plan/budget and financial strategy for IT.
  • You ensure an effective system for financial-economic planning and control is in place to serve as a basis for sound decision making.
  • You lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle for your business unit
  • You analyze and review the financial report, perform variance analysis, and provide insights and context for changes.
  • Manage improvement programs, focus on both the business performance and the preparation of reliable and timely management information.
  • You issue insights at request or at your own initiative regarding financial performances and on investments, working capital and profitability, as well as on decisions with (strategic) financial implications.
  • You support management decisions with financial analyses and promote financial awareness and optimal use of resources.
  • You design and maintain PowerBI dashboard and other IT Financial Management Tooling to translate data into valuable management information and to provide sound and clear advise to leadership teams.
  • You examine and advise on the operational effectiveness of the monthly closing and reporting process, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and accounting standards.
  • You are the linking pin between Corporate Accounting, PMO, Center of Excellence and Business Control, you ensure the overarching processes are monitored and work flawlessly.
  • You motivate, support and train your colleagues in getting familiar with the complexity of the IT organization.

The position of Business Controller is highly impactful because we want to ensure future readiness and transparency in IT costs. To achieve this high quality decision making, which means deep understanding of the services delivered and build within your controlled environment, is needed. Boundless pioneering is often the name of the game because nothing is set in stone, so you have to think strategically and adopt a hypothesis-driven mindset. How can we create incentives to spend efficient in IT, while safeguarding innovation? As Business Controller, you will answer these – and many other – questions, working in tandem with global and local CIO’s around, Product owners, Asset managers, PMO and Accounting.

What’s in it for you?
Aside from what we ask of you in this role, we also have a great deal to offer you: plenty of growth opportunities and various cross-brand career options; flexible working hours; a hybrid working model (we ask you to spend at least 50% of your working time at the office); and the chance to drive meaningful change on a global scale. You can look forward to a good work-life balance, and the chance to work in an inclusive environment that wholeheartedly encourages growth and welcomes you just the way you are.

Plus:

  • A gross annual salary of 70K to 85K based on full-time employment, including holiday allowance.
  • Attractive bonuses
  • A first-rate pension plan
  • 20 vacation days and the option to buy an additional 12,5 days from your personal ‘flex budget’.
  • Travel expenses or an NS travel card
  • A laptop and smartphone

Requirements

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:

  • Combine a Master degree in Finance & Accounting, Business Administration or Economics with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 3 years in IT/Tech control.
  • You bring experience in (finance) process design, process optimalization and change management.
  • Have a strong interest in understanding finance processes and IT organization and costs.
  • Have strong analytical skills and are able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Have great communication skills and are fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
