What does our International IT Audit Traineeship entail?
Being active in Europe, the United States and Indonesia, our company’s challenges extend beyond country borders. We strongly believe that our future leaders should develop an international mindset. That’s exactly what we aspire toward in our international traineeships – three-year development programs that offer you the opportunity to launch your career at Ahold Delhaize. The program is built on three pillars: social and business development; technical and functional skills; and leadership development. You’ll also undertake at least three rotations among our different continental audit teams in the Netherlands and the US. To stimulate cross-functional learning, you’ll engage in inspiring learning sessions together with fellow trainees and other associates. Personal growth and development are key aspects of this program that prepare you to become a seasoned professional and our company’s future leader.

To become a seasoned IT internal audit professional, you will experience retail’s IT functions by having functional skills training and by working across all IT functions of our organization. You will work with leaders across our organization to identify areas of risk, make valuable recommendations and influence positive change; all to help our Company achieve our purpose ~ inspiring everyone to eat and live better, for a healthier future for people and planet. 


Engaging in international assignments will prepare you in becoming Ahold Delhaize’s next future leader. We stimulate cross-functional learning by organizing learning sessions, together with fellow Trainees and other inspiring colleagues. You’ll learn how to combine technology, data and innovation to identify risks to our operations and ensure they are efficient, safe and scalable. Throughout the traineeship, you’ll work on challenging and impactful audits and projects, from partnering with business stakeholders to identifying risks in new technology solutions to enhance our customers’ food retail shopping  experience. Whether it’s in a local brand, or leveraging our scale to create shared solutions across Ahold Delhaize, the International IT Internal Audit Traineeship provides fantastic opportunity to hone auditing and IT skills in an environment where your work has real impact on the day-to-day lives of customers and associates. 

What are we looking for? 

  • Master's degree in Technical Field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security) by the start of the traineeship.
  • Affinity with information systems and understanding of DevOps software engineering and operations principles. Experience with operational technology and robotics is a plus.
  • Up to two years (maximum) of working experience.
  • The ability to communicate fluent in English (and preferably one of the following: Dutch, Greek, Serbian, Czech, Romanian or French) and the willingness to travel, including international travel
  • Business Acumen – the ability to understand organizational processes and objectives as well as obtain organizational insight through effective relationships.
  • Aptitude and desire to understand how our retail technologies (e.g., supply chain automation, store level software innovations, omnichannel shopping platforms, AI driven solutions) impacts business processes and customer experience
  • Reside in and are eligible to work in the Netherlands.
