How you can
make a difference

As Legal Counsel Data Privacy, you assume end-to-end responsibility in supporting the Global and EU business and IT support offices with all matters related to data privacy. The role is focused on driving a consistent strategic vision of data privacy across the organization, enable innovation through the compliant use of data and act as a subject matter expert on the privacy requirements relating to the evolving technology landscape. You will play a key role in providing advice on strategic topics such as centralized customer profiling, the use of cookie data, data monetization, data analytics and data governance. You will also excel the compliancy of data use across all global AD brands by managing the designs of standard privacy templates, documentation, training materials, DPA’s, DPIA’s, record keeping standards and transfer impact assessments.

As Legal Counsel Data Privacy, you are part of the Legal Data Privacy team.

Key responsibilities of your role  

  • Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones: 
  • Strategically and pragmatically advise our global and regional business on data privacy aspects and act as subject matter expert; 
  • Participate and influence key projects and working groups on strategic (data) topics. Design blueprints and group positions for strategic projects; 
  • Assist and support the business in conducting privacy risk assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments on high-risk processing activities; 
  • Draft and update privacy notices and provide support in the development and implementation of internal regulations and policies; 
  • Assist and support the business in maintaining an up-to-date register of processing activities. 
  • Contribute to the privacy awareness of relevant stakeholders by providing training; 
  • Review, draft and negotiate privacy related contracts and supporting documentation (such as data processing agreements). 
  • Handle data incidents and privacy requests from data subjects or supervisory authorities.

  • A gross annual salary between €77,600.00 and €87,600.00 depending on your experience. This amount includes 8% holiday allowance;

Requirements 

  • We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements: 
  • Between 4-6 years of relevant work experience in a similar position or in an (internationally) oriented law firm; 
  • A master a Law degree; 
  • CIPP/E/CIPM (or other similar) certification; 
  • Good knowledge of the GDPR, e-Privacy Directive and related laws, such as the Dutch GDPR Implementation Act; 
  • Deep understanding of system integration concepts, platform strategies, cloud-based infrastructures and new IT technology fields; 
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in applying risk-based decision making; 
  • Excellent in ENG. NL and other languages are a plus; 
  • Good contract drafting skills in the areas of privacy related contracts.  

 

Aside from these hard skills, we think you should also bring some much-valued soft skills to the table: a hands-on attitude, outspoken communication skills and the ability to take the lead in order to get things done. In addition to these, a high level of creativity, empathy, and enthusiasm will take you far.
