How you can make a difference
As Financial Controller EU you are responsible for the financial control of the central EU entities. You provide insights in the financial figures of the EU entities and make sure that they are accurate and complete. You have a continuous drive to set up seamless financial processes. You’ll be working together with colleagues who have a broad range of professional experience in an international global finance environment.

Your new work environment
As Financial Controller EU, you’ll be joining the Finance team at European Business Services (EBS), a shared services organization dedicated to helping Ahold Delhaize’s great European brands achieve their strategic goals. All our Finance teams are filled with smart, high-performing finance professionals who enjoy pioneering and taking ownership of their work.
EU Financial Control focuses on period and quarterly reporting and closing procedures. Key is to deliver valuable financial insights to European management and EU business control based on complete and accurate financial accounting processes. You will be responsible for an entity focusing on EU wide topics like IT and vendor allowances. We are about to set new roles and responsibilities for the financial processes of this entity and the financial controller will be in the lead implementing this.
You will be given the freedom and responsibility to take ownership of your work and broaden your horizons by working together with knowledgeable colleagues from different countries who have an abundance of expertise in many areas. We will continually invest in you and help you build on your talents and skills for the future.
Key responsibilities of your role
Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:
- You are responsible for timely periodic closing of the EU entities;
- You make sure that the financial figures (balances sheet and P&L) of the EU entities are accurate and complete;
- You coordinate and discuss results with business controllers responsible for the EU entities;
- You coordinate with our outsourcing partner for accounting services and assures service levels are;
- You are proactive in bringing continuous improvement;
- You participate in EU projects on streamlining, standardization and automation of our financial processes and reporting;
- You coordinate audits for EU entities with external auditor and tax department and makes sure audits are timely completed;

Requirements
We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:
- Have a university degree in business studies or business economics, preferably combined with a degree in controlling or accounting (RC, RA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent);
- Able to collaborate across boundaries (functions, brands, and geographies) to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals;
- At least 6 years’ experience in Finance, preferably in Audit, Accounting or Financial Control;
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written);
Aside from these hard skills, we think you should also bring some much-valued soft skills to the table: the ability to impact and influence stakeholders (both internal and external) and having a drive for change and innovation.
