Please note the requirements for this internship:

  • You must be based in the Netherlands and able to work at least 2-3 days per week from our headquarters in Zaandam.  
  • You must be enrolled in a Dutch University/HBO throughout the whole duration of the internship (Feb/March-June/July 2025).

Ahold Delhaize is a global food retail company with 16 local brands. As an intern in our team, you will be included in our current projects, discussions and brainstorm. We are happy to get your thoughts on topics that matter, and you will be encouraged to work together with other colleagues within our company (including the local brands). You support your colleagues to protect, promote, and position Ahold Delhaize's reputation through strategic storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and proactive management and strategic advice for key moments and issues, in support of the long-term objectives of the company. The internship in the Media & External Relations team includes these (and many other) activities:  

  • Writing for external (and internal) audiences and social media.  
  • Creating new creative communication means.  
  • Analyzing media coverage and social media attention for our company and the local brands.  
  • Researching media outlets, conferences and other external opportunities.  


In this position you work 32-40 hours per week, partly from home and partly from our head office in Zaandam.

  • You are currently studying at an (international) university/college level (BA level and above), preferably in the field of (Corporate) Communications, Political Science, Business Management (with a focus on comms/marketing), Media Studies.  
  • Solid English skills and affinity with communications.  
  • PowerPoint skills.  
  • Design skills are welcome.

Application

Share your enthusiasm for Ahold Delhaize or of our great local brands — explain why do you want to work for us and how you can add value. Your goal is to engage the hiring manager and to get them thinking about you as a potential new hire. Give it your all!

Job interview(s)

After you have been selected and depending on the role, you will be invited for one or more job interviews. The job interview, which is a two way conversation, will take place online (via Teams) or at the office. You will be informed by the recruiter. This is your moment to shine (but you always do ofcourse)

Online Assessment

When both parties would like to continue the conversation you will be invited for an online assessement, also known as pre-employment tests. The purpose of the test is helping hiring manager determine whether a candidate has the skills, work style, knowlegde of personality to succeed in a the role.

Job Offer

We are thrilled to get you onboard and would like to offer you the job. In this phase we start the conversation about the details which comes with the job, such as compensation, benefits and other contract details.
