How you can make a difference
Hi, we are Ahold Delhaize, a global family of caring brands
Helping people eat well, save time, and live better. That is what Ahold Delhaize (55m weekly customers, 413k colleagues) stands for. As one of the world's largest and most forward-thinking food retail groups, our global family of local brands creates inspiring shopping experiences. Whether people shop at brick-and-mortars, prefer quick pick-ups, or opt for the convenience of ordering online, Ahold Delhaize delivers.
We are growing our business quickly but responsibly. We advocate and accelerate sustainable retailing, responsible sourcing, supporting local communities, and helping customers make healthier choices in a world in transition. That requires the courage and wholeheartedness to have convictions and stand up for what we believe in. It also takes a growth-hacking mindset: tomorrow's opportunities call for tomorrow's skills. But most of all, it requires us to be there for the people and communities we serve. #daretocare
Dive wholeheartedly into these key responsibilities:
- Providing advice on financial products and structures, including loan- and debt capital market transactions. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating finance documentation such as guarantees and loan agreements
- Liaising with external legal counsel and other debt advisors, advising on initiatives in the environmental, social and governance domain
- Advising on sustainability strategic initiatives from a legal perspective
- Advising on compliance with (emerging) regulatory requirements related to environmental, social and governance issues
- Owning and maintaining various internal policies
- Managing the expert's internal legal communities
- Creating and sharing legal best practices
As Manager Corporate Legal, you assume end-to-end responsibility for all legal work supporting various strategic endeavours, particularly in finance, treasury, accounting, sustainability and the ESG domain. You have to tap into your entire reservoir of skills by providing clear legal advice reflecting an understanding of our internal and external stakeholders and bearing in mind the strategy of Ahold Delhaize.
The position of Manager Corporate Legal is highly impactful because it closely partners with the senior leadership across our organization. There is guaranteed openness in sharing and co-creating. You will recognize your success by being given a seat at the table when decision-making occurs and being asked for your opinion on putting strategic initiatives in place. Thinking out of the box is often the name of the game because nothing is set in stone. Certain legal requirements are emerging and transformed, so you must think strategically and adopt a hypothesis-driven mindset. How can we create growth and innovate while complying with increasing regulatory requirements? As Manager Corporate Legal, you will answer these – and many other – questions, working in tandem predominantly with the Finance, Health & Sustainability and Communications departments.
The role is part of the Global Legal and Public Affairs team, consisting of legal, public affairs and asset protection experts with a broad focus and proficient experience. In such a setup, you will substantially broaden your horizon and deepen your impact. Being open and caring about the team, you will thrive in a supportive and fun working environment. As our new Manager Corporate Legal, you will report directly to the Corporate Legal Director while working closely with two other Corporate Legal Managers, all collaborative, hardworking and fun colleagues. Do you #daretocare with us?
We welcome caring colleagues who have
- Combine a Master's degree in Law with a minimum of 5 years of experience in legal in a leading multinational and/or Law firm
- Bring solid management and leadership qualities to the table because you will effectively organize your work, engage with internal and external stakeholders and have solid communication skills
- Can bridge the gap between business and legal requirements
Besides that, you're able to:
- Support and advise senior functional and executive leadership on sensitive and confidential topics
- Identify and engage the relevant stakeholders on critical internal and external topics
- Build relationships with highly critical, intelligent and essential internal and external stakeholders
- Master complex information quickly and translate for internal and external audiences
