How you can
make a difference

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Azure Infra Engineer to join our team in the Supply Chain Execution domain. You’ll be an infrastructure and automation specialist and technology advocate across 4-5 DevOps teams that are at different stages of maturity regarding their cloud and infra setup. Your core mission is to assess the current infrastructure landscape, define a clear infra and automation strategy customized for each team, aligned with Engineering Managers and Product Owners, and then execute that strategy.

This is how you will reinvent food retail.

  • Drive automation of Cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, self-service, Infrastructure-as-Code services, Auto Scale initiatives, and DevOps deployment.
  • Design, implement, and manage Azure IaaS resources (Virtual Machines, networking, storage, security, etc.) to support scalable and secure environments.
  • Set up and maintain Azure landing zones to ensure enterprise-grade governance, security, and compliance.
  • Contribute to infrastructure improvements, architecture, development, and deployment.
  • Implement security baselines and standards for Azure resources including Network access, restriction of internet-facing resource provision and configuration within the Azure environment.
  • Work with and support application teams in their digital transformation goals
  • Collaborate with product, and design teams to ensure that releases, internal and external, can be done easily (and retracted easily if need be).
  • Define and develop architectural standards that promote DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).

Your new team and office.
Our teams have been working together for some years in the Supply Chain Execution department. About half of our team works hybrid from the office in Zaandam (right next to the train station) one or two days per week, while the other half works fully remote. We plan our important team sessions when people are at the office, and we also organize regular team events to connect and have some fun.
The engineers in our teams are passionate about their craft, and they want to keep learning and improving. They are not afraid to ask for what they need to make that happen and they go the extra mile to support each other delivering results. Joint brainstorming sessions and pair programming are a regular thing in our teams.

Together with your team you will work on inspiring projects to accelerate our transition into a hybrid Food & Tech company. We want to leverage data and technology to future-proof food shopping and give our customers accessibility to healthy food more easily available for everyone. At Albert Heijn, you team up with inspiring peers in the data, digital and tech domains. A community of diverse individuals who share a common goal; to create digital solutions that make (online) shopping simpler and more inspiring. Are you ready to reinvent the way millions of people buy and enjoy their food? We invest heavily in data, digital and tech. And that includes investing in your career! Our teams work in a hybrid way: both from home as well as in the office. We are located right next to the train station Zaandam.

We think it’s important to be part of an high-belonging team; a team where you can be yourself and feel safe, accepted and appreciated. For this job we are preferably looking for someone who brings diversity in our team, in the widest possible sense. Someone who is a great addition to our team by bringing other ideas to the table. So don’t check all the boxes? Don’t worry, we probably don’t either 😉. Don’t hesitate to apply if you think you are up for the challenge, we’re happy to have a look at your resume!

The recipe for maximum impact:

  • You enjoy teamwork and making things happen.
  • You’re tech savvy, proactive, and have a big passion for technology.

Must-have:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure IaaS (Virtual Machines, networking, storage, security, etc.)
  • Proven track record of setting up and managing Azure landing zones in enterprise environments
  • Strong Terraform skills for Azure infrastructure automation
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and lifecycle management (LCM)
  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, etc.)

Nice-to-have:

  • AZ-104 certification
  • Experience with Azure PaaS (AKS, Databricks, etc.)
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
  • Experience with observability frameworks (monitoring, logging, alerting tools)

Extra advantage:

  • Experience with Playwright automation
  • Operations and incident management experience
  • Knowledge of Linux and/or Oracle Database
