How you can
make a difference

Your new role and environment

As a Backend Developer at AD/01, you contribute to the improvement and optimization of the online experience of millions of customers. Using the latest technology, you transform the ever-changing insights in the world of online shopping into code that works. In short, you use your programming skills to develop, test and implement new functionalities, together with your team.

Our smart professionals create digital solutions that make (online) shopping simpler and more inspiring. We’re continually rethinking the way people shop, pay and even enjoy food. That’s why we’re investing heavily in data, digital and tech.

In the Customer Technology Platform (CTP) we are looking for an experienced Backend Developer. CTP focuses on Website, App, Logistics software for the grocery home delivery proposition and the in-store IT of Albert Heijn. With 3.5M App users, 3M website visits, 330k orders a week and 500M transactions; we take on the task of being reliable and always innovating to optimize processes and bring better service to the customer. This is a huge responsibility but also a really exciting job. We are always looking for great developers in one of our 46 scrum teams and we will be glad to open up a position for you!

Key responsibilities of your role

  • Manage the shopping experience in our stores, website and app.
  • Develop and improve new features for millions of customers.

  • Take responsibility (with the team) on the DevSecOps development cycle including standby

So, what do we have in store for you? We offer flexible hours and a hybrid working model, allowing you to work both from home and at the office. We provide competitive benefits to support health, well-being and your professional growth. This includes: a significant budget on the benefit platform and a yearly bonus. At AD01 we welcome everyone, just the way you are, and encourage individual growth with valuable opportunities and a worldwide across-brand network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
  • At least 7 years work experience as a software engineer
  • Experience with Java, Kotlin (must have), SQL, CI/CD
  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD practices in an Azure Cloud environment.
  • A big plus if you also have experience with Kafka, Grafana, Postgres, and APIs
  • A getting-things-done mentality
  • An insatiable appetite for new knowledge

It goes without saying that so-called ‘soft skills’ are just as important as their ‘hard’ cousins. We highly value:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative; identifies solutions and selects the best combination of practices by taking an innovative approach to problem solving
  • Team player; involves others, shares knowledge and seeks opportunities for cross functional working and collaboration
